While this is certain a good laptop approach, and one we had at the beginning of the laptop age, have you EVER actually tried to repair a laptop? The tech moves to fast that it becomes impractical. By the time you actually go to upgrade them, so much of the tech in them actually needs to be entirely replaced due to advancements in the market. The stuff that you are more likely to repair (input devices) are actually self service - even for the modern MacBooks (although a pain in the ass perform)
