While you shouldn't be ashamed to have an opinion about a product without owning it, you will lack context to know whether or not your opinion is actually valid. You're trusting an echo chamber of other reviews and adopting an opinion without having all the facts - the most important being your own experience with the product.

The upcoming Meta Quest Pro is a perfect example. Nearly zero percent of the people espousing an opinion on the controllers, battery life, features, utility, etc. have even seen the device. Yet many have formed opinions about it. "Well it says 'up to' 2 hours so that means battery life sucks'" Maybe it does - maybe it actually doesn't. We don't know until we run it through out PERSONAL use cases to see if that rings true. I have a Galaxy Watch 4 that I charge every few days - I'm not running out to charge it and frequently forget to and it runs just fine. But I don't run Always On Displays. While I'm working out, I'm not running a marathon. My opinon of the battery like of the Galaxy Watch 4 is that it can do 3 days without breaking a sweat - just put mine on the charger with 4% of battery left after 3 days.

So while it is possible to have an opinion about something without owning it, it's not a well informed opinion that may actually not match with reality. I don't plan to use face tracking on my MQP so I suspect I'll last far longer than the "up to 2 hours" that everyone os pannicked about - for example.
